Und in Schottland wird der bis zum heutigen Tag älteste veröffentlichte Whisky destiliert. Er verbringt 81 Jahre in einem einzigen Sherry Fass. THE MACALLAN - THE REACH besticht durch eine Synergie aus Whisky, Holz, Bronze und Kristallglas und ich habe die Ehre eine davon in den Händen zu halten. 288 Flaschen sind es immerhin geworden die in einem schon fast schreinartigen Möbelstück sicher verpackt sind.
Three bronze hands hold the crystal decanter and these hands symbolize the history of Macallan's whisky. Chairman Allen Shiach whose grandfather ran the distillery in 1940 was dedicated one, the second is attributed to Kristeen Campell who selected the cask of 1940 and the third to all the employees who distilled this whisky at that time.

Drei Hände aus Bronze halten den Kristalldekanter und diese Hände symbolisieren die Geschichte des Macallans Whisky. Chairman Allen Shiach desen Großvater die Destillerie 1940 leitete wurde eine Hand gewidmet, die zweite wird Kristeen Campell zugeordnet, die das Fass von 1940 aussuchte sowie die dritte all den Mitarbeitern die diesen Whisky in der damaligen Zeit brannten.

- Colour: Deep auburn
- ABV: 41.6%
- Nose: Dark chocolate, sweet cinnamon, aromatic peat, plums, leather, pink grapefruit, redcurrant jelly and a rich resinous note.
- Palate: Treacle toffee, bramble jam, liquorice, crystalised ginger, nutmeg, charred pineapple, pecans, woodsmoke.
- Finish: Intensely rich, sweet and smoky.

- Farbe: Tief kastanienbraun.
- Aroma: Dunkle Schokolade, süßer Zimt, aromatischer Torf, Pflaumen, Leder, rosa Grapefruit, Johannisbeergelee und eine reichhaltige harzige Note.
- Geschmack: Sirup-Toffee, Brombeermarmelade, Lakritze, kristallisierter Ingwer, Muskatnuss, verkohlte Ananas, Pekannüsse und Holzrauch.
- Abgang: Intensiv reichhaltig, süß und rauchig.
- Alkoholgehalt: 41,6 %
